چکیده

The interaction energy of two atoms in the presence of an external electrostatic field is evaluated up to sixth order with the help of covariant fieldtheoretical perturbation theory. The divergent Feynman diagrams entering the calculation are resummed according to a systematic procedure that has been developed in a previous paper. The pair polarizability and first hyperpolarizability that give the response of the interacting atoms to the external field are subsequently obtained from the energy shift by virtue of a HellmannFeynman theorem. The retardation effects showing up in the pair polarizability are discussed in detail.

Quantum Gravitational Force Between Polarizable Objects.

Since general relativity is a consistent low energy effective field theory, it is possible to compute quantum corrections to classical forces. Here we compute a quantum correction to the gravitational potential between a pair of polarizable objects. We study two distant bodies and compute a quantum force from their induced quadrupole moments due to two-graviton exchange. The effect is in close ...

Modulating Band Gap and HOCO/LUCO Energy of Boron-Nitride Nanotubes under a Uniform External Electric Field

In this study, spectroscopic properties of the single-walled boron-nitride nanotube (SWBNNT) –a semiconductor channel in molecular diodes and molecular transistors–have been investigated under field-free and various applied electric fields by first principle methods. Our analysis shows that increasing the electric field in boron-nitride nanotube (BNNT) decreases the Highest Occupied Crystal Orbi...

The chemical bond in external electric fields: energies, geometries, and vibrational Stark shifts of diatomic molecules.

It is shown that the response of molecular properties of diatomics such as the total energy, the bond length, and the vibrational Stark shift to an external homogenous electric field (EF) can be predicted from field-free observable properties such as the equilibrium bond length, the bond dissociation energy, the polarizability and dipole moment functions, and the vibrational frequency. جابه‌جایی انرژی فرمیونهای غیرنسبیتی برهمکنش کننده در فضای ناجابه‌جاگر

A local interaction in noncommutative space modifies to a non-local one. For an assembly of particles interacting through the contact potential, formalism of the quantum field theory makes it possible to take into account the effect of modification of the potential on the energy of the system. In this paper we calculate the energy shift of an assembly of non-relativistic fermions, interacting...

Reconciliation of experimental and theoretical electric tensor polarizabilities of the cesium ground state

– We present a new theoretical analysis of the strongly suppressed F-and M-dependent Stark shifts of the Cs ground state hyperfine structure. Our treatment uses third order perturbation theory including off-diagonal hyperfine interactions not considered in earlier treatments. A numerical evaluation of the perturbation sum using bound states up to n=200 yields ground state tensor polarizabilitie...
